QA Engineer

Whimsy Games is looking for a QA Engineer to validate the quality and stability of our slot products across both the frontend client and the backend game engine. You will test a TypeScript/PixiJS v8 client alongside a server-authoritative Go engine, ensuring client spin presentation and backend results remain fully consistent. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex slot mechanics, jurisdiction compliance, and high-concurrency architecture across API, integration, and performance testing domains.

QA Engineer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Test client typed HFSM spin-lifecycle transitions, state consistency, and session recovery/reconnection across mid-spin, free spins, and bonus rounds.
  • Verify PixiJS v8 rendering, Spine-Pixi v8 skeletal animations, and GSAP spin-stop choreography on target mobile and desktop browsers.
  • Validate jurisdiction-specific rules, mandatory messaging, and audit-trail behavior driven by configuration profiles.
  • Test offline mocked backend implementations and verify network resilience under packet loss or mid-spin disconnections.
  • Perform engine lifecycle QA for spin generation, keep-generate, and history-replay endpoints to confirm deterministic replay.
  • Validate RGS adapters for SDK-injected RNG sourcing, wallet transaction accuracy, and math/RTP compliance against certified models.
  • Audit backend storage and messaging (PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ) and design load tests using K6 or JMeter for spin-endpoint latency/throughput.
  • Produce precise technical bug reports identifying root causes across HFSM states, engine determinism, database locks, or queue sync issues.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of technical QA experience covering client-rendered game engines and high-concurrency backend services.
  • Basic understanding of TypeScript, PixiJS v8, Spine-Pixi v8, GSAP, and client architecture layers (Presentation / HFSM / Domain / Network / Platform).
  • Basic understanding of Go services, RGS/SDK integration contracts, NestJS, and backend support via Redis and RabbitMQ.
  • Literacy in slot mechanics (paylines/clusters/Megaways, RTP, volatility, free spins, bonus buy, ante bet, max-win).
  • Experience or theoretical knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., K6, JMeter) for backend load and client frame-budget profiling.
  • Proven ability to utilize LLMs and AI coding assistants for test case generation, documentation analysis, and code auditing.
  • Strong understanding of concurrency issues and race conditions.
  • Excellent technical communication skills to explain failures across complex frontend and backend layers.
